Napoleon Bonaparte

After visiting the Napoleon Museum in Corsica, I feel disappointed that the legacy of this great being in this museum does not at all highlight the great contributions he made to our modern Western civilization. It was not mentioned at all.

Without Napoleon's law book - Code Napoleon - the privileges of the nobility and clergy in Europe might not have been abolished.

In addition, he canceled all debts and freed entrepreneurs who had gone bankrupt from being stuck in debt chambers, so that they could instead use the experience they had gained to start new businesses. As a result, France's economy recovered so that the standard of living rose significantly - Thanks to this, the French people loved him, which resulted in a large majority of voters voting for him to become their emperor.

It was thanks to Napoleon that the ideas of the American Revolution landed in Europe and that the new civilization (modern democracy) that was created there spread to us.

Socrates had (ref: Plato's dialogue REPUBLIC) predicted that: There may come a day in the future when philosophers write a constitution, which lays the foundation for a better civilization. – That is precisely what happened when the American founding fathers (They had all studied Plato's dialogue REPUBLIC) wrote the American Constitution in 1787 – Then the foundation for modern Western democratic civilization was laid.

As Winston Churchill said: Democracy is the least bad political system we have. A benevolent dictatorship is perhaps a better system, but arranging sensible successors has proven to be almost impossible.
