The War of Independence
This year, on July 4, Americans celebrate the
250th anniversary (the Declaration of Independence in 1776) with a series of

Comment: We must not forget that the American
Constitution (written in 1787) fulfilled a dream that Socrates expressed in
Plato's Dialogue REPUBLIC – Perhaps there
will come a day when philosophers write a constitution that creates a new kind
of civilization (C2 or modern Western civilization – democracy).
In the six episodes, Thomas Paine is reestablished
as one of the philosophers who should rightly be included among the "Founding
Fathers of the Constitution".
NOTE! All the Fathers of the Constitution were
philosophers who were familiar with Plato's dialogue REPUBLIC.
NOTE! It was primarily through the French
Revolution and Napoleon that Thomas Paine's ideas of abolishing kingdoms and
introducing laws (with the Code Napoleon's legal system) that
C2/democracy was established in Europe in the coming centuries.
NOTE! Today a similar "war of Liberty" is being waged by Ukraine against Russia, where Ukrainians defend C2 ideals against the tyrannical Russian C1 civilization.
